PAST EXHIBITIONS: << Back to Past Exhibitions Architecture on the Decolletè
For Immediate Release - Monday, October 3, 2005, Toronto - Tomorrow evening, renowned jewellery designer, Dr. Daniela Allega Fuciarelli, presents her exhibition, "Architecture on the Decolletè". Founder of Architectural Gold, Italian-born Fuciarelli divides her time between Italy and the United States and makes her Canadian debut at the Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery, Columbus Centre.
Her exclusive, one-of-a-kind pieces have been showcased around the world, and more recently at Toronto's Venetian Ball on Thursday, September 29th. Her creations are inspired by art and architecture, especially Roman antiquity and the Italian middle ages, Renaissance and Baroque periods. Alternately, she reaches into other cultures, such as Russian and Chinese for unique design ideas.
The stones themselves inspire Fuciarelli, such as pearls, turquoise, diamonds and emeralds. While they are a focal point of her work, they do not dominate her designs. "I prefer the element of design over simple carat weight," she explains. "My design ideas come to me from an array of places - the angels of Raphael, the architecture of Brunelleschi, the design of Michelangelo's Piazza del Campidoglio..." she adds.
"Our mandate is to promote the best of Italian culture," explained Pal Di Iulio, Executive Director of Villa Charities. Dr. Fuciarella represents an aspect of Italian history through design, and we're honoured to have her showcase her work with us. We're even more pleased that she is generously donating a portion of her sales to Villa Charities," Di Iulio added.
"Architecture on the Decolletè" is on exhibit from October 4 to October 23rd. For more information, please call (416) 789-2970.
