Arctic Quest
Members of Artic Quest who traveled to paint the High Arctic showcased their
work in this special exhibit.
The twelve day voyage to the arctic took place in 2006 and marked the 100th
anniversary of the Northwest Passage. The Arctic Quest artists recorded their
impressions on canvas, paper and film as they visited remote Arctic communities.

Gianni Tarli: Identità e Metamorfosi
Centro Scuola, in collaboration with the Instituto Italiano di Cultura –
Toronto, presented an art exhibit by Italian artist Gianni Tarli at the Carrier
Gallery.
Tarli was born in Switzerland and then moved to Italy as a teenager. The family
settled in Teramo, Abruzzo, where he experienced his first artistic exposure in
local exhibits that demonstrated his closeness and sensitivity to nature.

 Abilities
Arts Festival 2007
“Art comes in all forms. So do artists” – a strong statement by Sharon Wolfe,
artistic director of the Abilities Art Festival. This statement was celebrated
at this year’s exhibit, hosted at the Carrier Gallery.
The two-week festival featured various art exhibits, special presentations and
seminars held throughout Toronto at various venues, including the Glenn Gould
Studio and the Columbus Centre/Carrier Gallery which hosted the visual arts
component of the festival.

The Art of Nancy Woo Chu
Internationally renowned artist Nancy Chu Woo is one of Hong Kong’s most
celebrated colourists. In October 2007, The Honourable Joe Volpe and the Hong
Kong Economic and Trade Office presented an exhibition of Chu Woo’s work at the
Carrier Gallery.
The colourful exhibit also served as a celebration of the 10th anniversary of
the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Carnival, The Spirit and The Soul
A Summer Carnival Mask Festival, Carnivalissima portion of the On Tour Liminata
Festival, exhibited a collective variety of Carnival Masks from Venice
throughout the Western Hemisphere.
In addition, mask making workshops by Artist Theo Dragonieri and team were
included, followed by a mini-carnival.

Landscapes 4 Views Photography
The work of four Canadian photographers of varied cultural backgrounds, Carlos
Ferguson, Susan Malatesta, Jennifer Murray-Szarvas, and Lorenzo Lalomia, were
showcased. Black & white and colour photographs in varying themes were featured,
ranging from traditional 35mm to digital output and manipulation. These images
are visual expressions of shape, form and texture.
