Art Quilts by Rachel Covo – ISRAEL
Rachel has chosen materials and colours that express the Mediterranean light and
hues. The main themes in her quilts are inspired from the local landscape and
reflect her personal interpretation of the evolving tradition of Quilt making.
The materials used to create her works include: industrial cottons, hand dyed
cottons, hand dyed silk, tie dye, traditional and art shibori, paper,
photographs and photo transfer. All of the pieces are sewn and quilted by Rachel
using a sewing machine.

The Society of Canadian Artists proudly celebrated 50 years in support of
artistic achievement in a variety of styles and philosophies. This anniversary
exhibition showcased the diverse talents of its membership, their dedication to
the arts and the contributions they have made to communities across Canada.

Sordi Film Retrospective
The Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Toronto presented an Alberto Sordi film
retrospective, dedicated to one of the most important actors in the history of
Italian cinema.
This event was organized by the Istituto and the Centro Scuola e Cultura
Italiana, directed by Alberto di Giovanni.

The Hundred Languages of Children: Exhibition of the Municipal Infant-Toddler
Centres and Preschools of Reggio Emilia, Italy
This exhibit presented a narrative of what is possible when many hands and many
minds - educators, parents and community - work together on ways to support
children, with the conviction that children's potential and rights are at the
centre of sound education.
The exhibit is a museum quality installation on twelve moveable wall panels. The
panels present in images, text and sample work the story of early childhood
education in the city of Reggio Emilia, Italy.

Order + Balance + Colour: New Collages by Jerome Conway
Born in Toronto and educated in Canada and the U.S.A., Jerome Conway is a
self-taught artist. In his current collage work, Conway explores a broad
spectrum of form and content ranging from representational to abstract imagery.
He describes collage as “the transformation of separate bits and pieces though
personal creative expression into an artistic unity - in effect bringing order
out of chaos.”
