For over four years, Mirjana Sebek has been teaching the Special Aquatics Programs, at the Columbus Centre Athletic Club.  The program is designed for seniors with medical and mobility issues. Sebek reminisces and describes the incredible response she’s witnessed from the participants of the program throughout her time as an instructor. “It’s amazing to see the seniors smiling, feeling better physically, moving around easier, and saying they can’t wait to come to the next class,” says Sebek. “Not only do these aquatics programs, which include specialty Aquafit classes, help seniors physically, they also benefit the participants’ mental health.” Mirjana stresses…

To celebrate Italian Heritage Month in June, Villa Colombo Vaughan has introduced a new cooking program called Cucina Rustica. Volunteers and staff will be cooking and baking traditional Italian dishes with residents. Villa Colombo Vaughan will also be creating a display board showcasing Italian heritage and history and will be hosting an Italian Heritage Month Social for all residents and visitors. Enterprising residents at Villa Colombo Toronto have recently launched a program designed to foster creativity and share the results with the community. Three seniors are gathering a few times a month to create one-of-a-kind bracelets, which will be available to purchase by the public. The bracelets are custom-made and come in different colours, with different silver-plated charms as well. They are being sold for $10 to $15.
