In celebration of the festive season, this annual exhibition features hand-made figurines from around the world. The large, hand-made nativity dioramas replicate different regions in Italy, capturing landscape, vernacular architecture and daily activities of village life.

Europa by Rosemary Mihalyi
Renowned artist Rosemary Mihalyi brought her latest show to the Carrier Gallery in October. The show, entitled Europa, consisted of oil on canvas portraits of women that Mihalyi met while in Italy.

Renato Sartoretto – Momenti
A very special exhibit comes the Carrier Art Gallery in Fall 2008. Renowned Italian artist Renato Sartoretto showcased an exhibit of oil paintings which painted in Toronto in the month leading up to the show.

Gagliato
Father and daughter team Nicola and Stephanie Gareri presented an intimate look at this small town in Calabria through black and white photographs in the Carrier Gallery in September.
The exhibit also served as the launch for the artists’ book, also entitled Gagliato, a collection of all the photographs in the show.

Gerry Sevier – Landscapes of Europe
Visitors to Columbus Centre were transported to the waterways of Venice, the shores of Spain and the gardens of Sweden in Gerry Sevier’s realistic works of art.
Sevier’s collection at the Carrier Art Gallery was the result of a numerous trips throughout Europe which included a cruise to Venice and Istanbul in 2001 and a trip to the vineyards of Umbria and Tuscany in 2003. Most recently, Sevier visited Sicily and Malta.
