Villa Charities Presents CULTURAL TUESDAYS

Cultural Tuesdays is a series of illustrated talks and presentations, designed to engage our community on a wide range of topics, spanning from culture, lifestyle, cuisine, art, and much more. Each Tuesday we will feature an engaging guest speaker, artist or performer to highlight the richness and diversity of Canadian and Italian heritage. Cultural Tuesdays are free to attend and will be hosted in the Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery at the Columbus Centre.

Experience Pulcinella’s irreverent antics, as he ponders about life, death, food, love and his childhood in the “old country.” Dora Award-winning performer, Adam Paolozza, explores his roots embodying the mischievous Pulcinella (ancestor of Mr. Punch), a mask which comes from the Campania region in Italy, from where Paolozza’s own family hails. The evening will include refreshments and a taste of the traditional Carnival cookies.

Sailing the river Brenta, Sebastiano Bazzichetto’s insightful talk will unlock the doors of Palladio’s villas, his Olympic theatre in Vicenza, and the legends in “fair Verona,” as Shakespeare christens it in his Romeo and Juliet.

Canadian poet and literary editor, Susan McMaster, has published over two dozen books, magazines and anthologies. Accompanied by pianist Barbara Dyck, Susan will recite selected poetry from her book, “Crossing Arcs: Alzheimer’s, My Mother and Me.” Visual artist and photographer, Tony Luciani, will also be on hand for a meet and greet, and to talk about his exhibition, “MAMMA, In the Meantime.”
