Villa Colombo Homes for the Aged Inc., part of the Villa Charities Inc. group of organizations, prides itself on providing quality long-term residential care and community services to seniors in a culturally sensitive environment that honours the Italian heritage. This is the mission of Villa Colombo and it has been achieving this mission since its opening in 1976.
Villa Colombo cares for 391 residents living in our Long Term Care (LTC) home in addition to providing community services to over 700 clients living in the community. Services include: Meals on Wheels, Adult Day Programs, Supportive Housing, and more.
When Villa Colombo was established over 40 years ago, it was built to cater to the growing population of elderly Italians. To this day, Villa Colombo remains a unique facility with a tradition of excellence and quality care that predominantly caters to Roman Catholic Italian seniors. However, the level and complexity of care needs within the community is changing. Villa Colombo is always looking for ways to expand the volume and service provided to members of the Italian-Canadian Community.
Villa Colombo is, and primarily operates as, a Long Term Care facility. This means that it serves as a home for the elderly who are no longer able to physically take care of themselves in their own homes. Long term care homes are designed for people who require the availability of 24-hour nursing care and supervision within a secure setting. LTC homes offer higher levels of personal care and support than those typically offered by either retirement homes or supportive housing. In addition to the care services provided, Villa Colombo provides residents with complete meal service, daily exercise and other activities, and religious and spiritual services; all provided while being culturally sensitive to our predominantly Italian clients.
Villa Colombo also has an extensive community services program. Through the Community Services department, Villa Colombo offers various Adult Day Programs for seniors still living at home, a meals on wheels program that partners with other community organizations facilitating preparation and delivery of daily meals to hundreds of clients, and three supportive housing buildings that provide basic nursing and care services to mostly independent seniors.
Villa Colombo Volunteer Programs and Villa Colombo Toronto Auxiliary
Villa Colombo is proud of its stellar volunteer program which consists of over 200 volunteers, many of whom are students. Volunteers assist and support the numerous resident and client activities offered at the home.
The Villa Colombo Toronto Auxiliary (VCTA) is also a fundamental component of Villa Colombo which, through its efforts, provides event support and unique funds that enhance Villa Colombo’s services.
