Why The Need

Villa Charities is entering the next phase in its history of providing culturally-sensitive care and services in the GTA and York Region. A five-year capital fundraising campaign will address the growing needs of the community, which include long waiting lists for our programs and services.

The capital fundraising campaign will raise the urgently needed dollars to continue the excellence Villa Charities is proud of providing in all its programs and services, and to ensure a legacy of love for future generations.

A few interesting facts about the Villa Charities family of organizations and the urgent needs in the community:

Villa Colombo
  • Despite 1000 long-term beds available across the GTA, hundreds of seniors prefer to wait up to eight months for a bed at Villa Colombo.
  • Each year, Villa Colombo Services for Seniors provides more than 23,000 meals to seniors through Meals on Wheels.
  • Its building is now 30 years old and has physical infrastructure needs. Improvements are needed to help meet the changing needs of our residents today.

VITA Community Living Services
  • Every morning, more than 400 people living with a developmental disability head-out to a VITA day program to learn life and employment skills. There are hundreds more on the waiting list for VITA programs and group homes.
  • VITA's 25 group homes throughout the GTA and York Region require urgent updates and renovations from the daily-use and general wear-and-tear that occurs from everyday living.

Columbus Centre
  • After 25 years of service to thousands people, Columbus Centre, the Italian cultural piazza, has urgent upgrading and renovation needs.
