2009 Giro T.O. – Cycling with an
Italian spin!
Get ready for more food, family fun and, of course, fundraising!
Join us on Sunday, May 24, 2009 as our dedicated “girini” ride back into
town for the 4th Annual Giro T.O. – Villa Charities’ fun-filled salute to
the famous bike ride, Giro d’Italia.
Unlike its European counterparts, Giro T.O. is not a competitive race, however,
the course promises to be an entertaining and challenging ride regardless of
your experience.
Starting and finishing at Columbus Centre at Dufferin and Lawrence, riders will
tackle the city streets and visit the distinctly Italian neighbourhoods in
Toronto and Vaughan along the way.
Riders will have the option of choosing the long course (with the halfway point
at Villa Colombo Vaughan in Kleinburg) or the short course, both of which end at
Columbus Centre. Rest stops along the way will feature regional Italian
specialties to keep riders refreshed and energized.
After the ride, all participants will be treated to a delicious barbeque on the
Columbus Centre grounds where prizes will be awarded to the top fundraisers.
There is a $50 registration fee for all riders. Fundraisers can look forward to
incentive prizes, which will be announced shortly.
Giro T.O. is a charity bike ride aimed at raising funds to help Villa Charities
give more amore to the seniors who cared for us, provide more invaluable job
training to young adults with intellectual disabilities and increase the
cultural programming that enriches the lives of thousands annually.
