How do I apply for a rent subsidy?

Can I request a specific apartment?
You cannot request a specific apartment. You will receive the first apartment that becomes available.
What’s included in the price of the rent?
Rent includes water, heating, air conditioning (where applicable) & hydro. Each apartment also comes equipped with a stove & refrigerator. Parking is also available at an additional cost.
How long does it take to get an apartment?
On average, there is a waiting list of 18-24 months for our rental units.
Is parking included?
Parking is available at an additional cost. The cost will depend on which apartment you live in and ranges from $25-$35 per month.
Do you have any services or programs that are catered specifically to seniors?
Our sister organization, Villa Colombo Services for Seniors offers various services available to seniors living in the area. These services include meals on wheels, financial clinics, and counseling. These services are not included in the rent and are therefore available at an additional cost. For an annual fee, Villa Colombo’s Elderly Person’s Centre (EPC) also offers programs and services such as recreational & educational activities, arts and crafts, exercise classes and outings. Are the apartments furnished?
All of our apartments are unfurnished.
Do you offer supportive housing?
Our apartments are mainly for individuals aged 60 years and over who are able to live independently, care for themselves and maintain their own units. Help with meals and homemaking is available, however it is not included in the cost of the rental, and must be organized by the tenant. For seniors requiring more nursing or personal care than can be provided through home support agencies, please contact Villa Colombo Services for Seniors at (416)789-2113 or visit www.villacolombo.on.ca.
Do I automatically get in to Villa Colombo if I am a resident of the apartments?
No. You must apply through your local Community Care Access Centre.
