Dear Residents, Families and Staff,

Our home remains in Parainfluenza Outbreak as declared on the 17th of February by York Region Public Health, in addition to being placed on COVID-19 Outbreak. Affected residents and close contacts remain on isolation under contact/droplet precautions. We continue to work collaboratively with York Region Public Health regarding our Outbreak.
Please speak to unit charge nurse if you have questions regarding your loved one’s isolation, testing or test results.


We will ensure to provide updates as they become available to us.

VCV Update
  • Only residents that are symptomatic have been placed on isolation.
  • Residents under isolation precautions may not participate in essential, social, or temporary absences. Medical and compassionate absences are permitted.
  • Social absences are not recommended.

 

The following IPAC measures are in place:

  • Increased cleaning of high-touch surfaces such as handrails and furniture in all areas
  • Close monitoring of all residents for other respiratory symptoms
  • Co-horting of staff
  • Physical distancing is maintained in all areas of the home
  • Enhanced hand hygiene
  • Enhanced surveillance testing of staff and visitors

 

Please remain vigilant and practice the following measures to minimize the spread of the virus:

  • Stay 6 feet apart from others
  • Avoid crowds
  • Wear a mask
  • Stay home and self-isolate if you are sick
  • Clean surfaces and your hands often
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Pay attention to and sanitize surfaces while shopping or using a gas station
  • Open windows to increase airflow and ventilation
  • DO NOT come to the Home if you are experiencing any respiratory symptoms or are ill with any communicable deceases
  • Adhere to all home’s Policies, Government of Ontario and Public Health Directives
  • Get vaccinated against Influenza and COVID-19, schedule your booster shot

Our ongoing commitment to you is that VCV and UniversalCare will be meeting and working with York Region Public Health to ensure we are doing all we can to keep our residents, staff and visitors safe; as information becomes available, we will continue to be transparent with our communication.
