Summer Camp

COMMITTED TO KEEPING YOU SAFE

We are very excited to welcome our camp families back and have modified our programs to ensure that all participants in our 2020 Summer Camp Programs remain healthy and safe throughout the summer months. We have been working diligently to connect with our camp families to learn what they would like to see when we open our doors.

In addition to complying with all provincial COVID-19 guidelines for summer camps, here are the health and safety measures that the Columbus Centre and our Summer Camp Program will implement:

  • Camp registrations may be processed online, by email or by phone only. There are no in-person registrations.
  • All camp groups (both indoor and outdoor) will have a maximum of 10 people, including campers and instructors.
  • All staff will work diligently to ensure campers are adhering to proper physical distancing guidelines.
  • All indoor camp areas will have permanent floor markers clearly outlining physical distancing guidelines.
  • All staff members must wear all necessary PPE as outlined by the government Including, but not limited to, masks and gloves.
  • “Kiss and Ride” drop-off/pick-up system in the back parking lot.
  • Our “All-Camp Circles” will be eliminated.
  • All camp participants will enter and exit the Columbus Centre using ONLY the emergency doors in the Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery.
  • Hand sanitizing stations have been placed throughout the main floor of the Columbus Centre. Campers will be instructed to use them when entering and exiting the Columbus Centre.
  • Each cabin group will have 1 staff member that is equipped with a mobile cleaning kit that will include hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, paper towels and gloves.
  • Additional cleaning of indoor and outdoor space will occur during lunch time and at the end of each day.

We want to thank all our camp families for their ongoing support. We look forward to working together to ensure that our Campers and Staff have a healthy and safe experience participating in our 2020 Summer Camp Program.

We offer extended care for before and after camp hours, on-site excursions as well as a hot lunch menu.

Columbus Centre Summer Camps are adequately staffed to ensure your child is safe, properly looked after, and given adequate one-on-one time to enhance whatever skills they have come to explore.

Special Needs Campers

Part of our philosophy at the Columbus Centre is to integrate children of diverse developmental backgrounds into our camp programs. We provide special needs counsellors (one-on-one or small groups) as determined by the Camp Director’s assessment and/or supplemented by a doctor’s note provided by the camper’s parent or guardian. Alternatively, we do welcome those campers who bring their own support worker. We would be happy to meet with families to discuss their child’s needs to ensure a positive camp experience.

Please note: If you have a child with special needs, we require that you register by ASAP to ensure we can accommodate your needs.
