Covid -19 Update

COVID-19

UPDATES

April 27, 2022

When the Government of Ontario lifted the mask mandate for most public indoor settings in late March 2022, we maintained this requirement for an extended period as an enhanced precautionary measure for our patrons and staff.

With key public health and health system indicators continuing to remain stable or improve, we have decided to end the masking mandate for Villa Charities and the Columbus Centre.

Beginning Sunday, May 1, 2022, patrons, members and visitors to our facilities will no longer be required to wear a mask.

However, we still support mask-wearing as an ongoing protective health measure and encourage everyone participating in our programs and services to continue wearing a mask should they wish to do so.

We thank the Villa Charities community for their cooperation and incredible support over these very challenging past two years. We are thrilled to be resuming all regular operations with a full calendar of events for the spring and summer!

Please continue to check the Villa Charities website at villacharities.com/COVID-19 and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) for the most recent information.

If you have any questions, please contact us at info@villacharities.com,
or call (416) 789-7011.

Thank you.
March 14, 2022

Last week, the Government of Ontario announced that masking requirements could be removed in most public indoor settings, including fitness centres, retail and restaurants as of March 21st.

However, as directives are revoked, individual organizations will continue to have the authority to keep requirements in place.

As such, please be advised that Villa Charities and the Columbus Centre will continue to maintain the masking requirement for all patrons, members and visitors to our facilities. We anticipate this policy will be in place until the end of April 2022, to coincide with the end of all remaining masking mandates.

We recommend this ongoing protective measure for everyone who visits or participates in our programs and services, despite the easing of other restrictions.

February 28, 2022

With key public health and health system indicators improving, the Government of Ontario continues to cautiously ease safety measures across the province. As part of the next reopening phase, capacity limits will be lifted in all indoor public settings, and non-essential businesses are no longer mandated to enforce the COVID19 Vaccination requirement as of March 1, 2022.

In accordance with these provincial policies, beginning Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 12:01am, the following measures will come into effect for all
Villa Charities and Columbus Centre patrons, members and visitors:

Capacity limits lifted for all programs, services and facilities

  • Proof of vaccination requirements lifted
  • Other protective measures such as mask/face covering requirements, hygiene/cleaning protocols, physical distancing and self-screening will still be in place

The safety of our facilities is further enhanced by the NoviFresh® virus protection post-filters installed throughout the Columbus Centre as well as in our Casa Del Zotto and Centro Abruzzo child care centres. This post-filter technology reduces airborne pathogens including COVID-19 and improves air quality.

We would also like to assure and remind all our Athletic Club members once again that given the size of our large main gym, which is almost 11,500 square feet, and our additional ongoing COVID-19 protocols, we are providing them with a very safe and comfortable environment for their fitness activities.

Please continue to check the Villa Charities website at villacharities.com and social media (FacebookTwitterInstagram) for the most recent information. Current members and patrons will also be notified directly with any other updates specific to their program or service. Programs and policies are always subject to change as required to meet current public health directives.

If you have any questions, please contact us at info@villacharities.com, or call (416) 789-7011.

Thank you.

VILLA CHARITIES COVID-19 MANDATORY VACCINATION POLICY – EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 22, 2021

Villa Charities is committed to providing a safe environment for our visitors, staff, and the general public.  During the pandemic some of our facilities were temporarily closed. By implementing comprehensive safety protocols, including this vaccination policy, we look forward to reopening all our indoor facilities at the Columbus Centre to the public.

Given the recent surge of COVID-19 infection rates driven by the Delta variant, the Government of Ontario, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, announced that effective September 22, 2021, access to certain indoor public settings will require proof of vaccination. This vaccination policy is part of Villa Charities’ comprehensive COVID-19 safety plan, which includes masking, social distancing, and screening.

Please view the full details of our vaccination policy for patrons and members here.

We thank you for your continued support as we all do our part to protect our families, colleagues and the community at large.

In light of the recent announcement made by the Government of Ontario requiring proof of vaccination to access certain public settings including gyms, recreational facilities and meetings/event spaces, we are currently reviewing the recommended policies and protocols to be implemented across our organization. We will provide an update with all details for our members and patrons prior to September 22, 2021.

Thank you for your continued support.

POLICY ON COVID-19 VACCINATIONS FOR VILLA CHARITIES AND COLUMBUS CENTRE

Villa Charities and Columbus Centre support the recommendations from the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) and Health Canada, and we encourage all individuals to get the COVID-19 vaccination based on their eligibility and at the direction of their primary healthcare provider. However, we respect the personal rights and choices of all individuals on this complex issue.

At this time, we are not requiring staff, visitors or members/patrons to disclose their vaccination status prior to entering our facilities, for privacy reasons. We ask that everyone conduct themselves in a manner that respects and protects the health and safety of other patrons and staff when on-site and to follow the mandated COVID-19 protocols, including self-screening. We are confident that with the strict COVID-19 safety measures we have implemented, our patrons will feel comfortable when they participate in our programs and services.

Currently, there are no provincial or federal directives for businesses requiring proof of vaccination, but we will follow any new regulations that are implemented.

We will provide updates should our policies be revised.

An Important Update from the Columbus Centre Management and Board of Directors

Amid uncertain times, and out of an abundance of caution, please be advised that effective immediately, the temporary suspension of our Columbus Centre Athletic Club on-site operations will be extended until January 1, 2021.

During this interim period, we will undertake a review to determine how best to move forward, including considering a modified reopening in accordance with public health guidelines, or a continued suspension of operations, should circumstances warrant it.

This was a difficult decision to make and we sincerely regret the inconvenience that this may cause; however, in light of the continued challenges presented by the COVID-19 public health crisis, the health and safety of our members, staff and community at large, must remain our top priority.

This is a temporary closure, and we fully intend to return to operation on January 2nd, providing the Government health authorities allow resumption. To stay connected with our athletic members during this time, we will continue the live, online fitness classes, and we are also exploring opportunities to offer additional services at the Columbus Centre, as well.

Please note that at present, this closure will not impact our dance, art or music programs.

Membership fees will not be charged during this period and any credits will be honoured.

We greatly appreciate the continued understanding and support of the Columbus Centre and Villa Charities communities as we work together through these unprecedented times.

Thank you.

Guidelines for Prevention & Treatment of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Villa Charities Inc. (VCI) is committed to ensuring a safe environment and workplace for all its patrons, visitors, staff, residents and tenants.

We encourage everyone to review the information below related to the prevention and treatment of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) as provided by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention):

Prevention
There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, CDC always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Follow CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask.
o CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19.
o Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others. The use of facemasks is also crucial for health workers and people who are taking care of someone in close settings (at home or in a healthcare facility).
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

People who think they may have been exposed to COVID-19 should contact their healthcare provider immediately. For more information visit cdc.gov/coronavirus

Thank you.
