Frank Chiarotto, Villa Charities Inc.
Frank is a retired Senior Executive after over 39 years with Ontario Power Generation and its predecessor, Ontario Hydro. As Senior Vice President HydroThermal Operations, Frank was accountable for the safe, reliable, environmentally responsible and cost effective operation of OPG’s fleet of 5 coal, oil and gas fired facilities (5500MW) and 65 Hydroelectric plants, consisting of 234 generating units and 232 dams on 24 river systems (6996MW) – including a number of multi-billion dollar development projects including the Niagara Tunnel and Lower Mattagami River plant expansion and the conversion of the Atikokan coal fired plant to burn biomass. Frank was a Board Member, serving as both Chair and President of two gas fired combined cycle plants, PEC co owned by OPG and TCE, and BBP, co owned by OPG and ATCO. Frank also sat on the Board (including positions as Chair) of Hydroelectric plant partnerships and industrial organizations including Sarnia Lambton Environmental Association and Industrial Education Cooperative.
Frank was the plant manager of a number of coal-fired generating facilities including Atikokan GS (Atikokan), Lambton GS (Sarnia) and Nanticoke GS (Port Dover). Prior to positions as plant manager, Frank held a number of engineering, production and strategic planning roles of increasing responsibility.
Born in Italy, my parents emigrated to Canada (Alberta) with my two brothers in 1953 when I was two years old. A third brother was born in Alberta. Our family moved to Toronto in 1967. I am married (Rosanne) and we are the proud parents of two boys, both married (Michael to Marlene and Jamie to Lorraine). We have four wonderful grandchildren (Michael and Marlene – Sophia and John; Jamie and Lorraine – Samuel and Gabriel).
