DanzArts Toronto Takes Part in Canada’s National Ballet School’s Sharing Dance Project
DanzArts Toronto Competitive Team Shines at Convention
The DanzArts Competitive team attended the renowned Nuvo Dance Convention in Toronto from December 9 – 10, 2017, where dancers learned from some of the world’s top choreographers and dance educators. This convention, which travels throughout North America, was attended by thousands of talented dancers from top dance studios across Canada. At the end of the convention, the Nuvo Faculty awarded scholarships to select students with standout performances in a variety of dance styles. The scholarships came in the form of recognitions and monetary grants for the dancers to use toward future dance conventions and workshops. Four DanzArts Toronto students were among those awarded scholarships. Intermediate Company dancer Piera Raffoul, was awarded the “Teen Breakout Artist Scholarship.” Intermediate and Junior Company dancers Mia Mazzaferro and Alexia Pace were awarded the “Stand Out Scholarship” in the hip hop category. Junior company dancer Alexia Giannakas was also awarded the “Die Hard Dancer Scholarship.” Learn more about the dancers who received scholarships below.
Piera was selected at the Nuvo Dance Convention as a “Breakout Artist” for her talent and standout performances as a well-rounded, technically strong dancer. She continues to grow as a dance artist in all styles of dance. Piera began her dance training at DanzArts Toronto and has been dancing with us for four years.
Mia was selected at the Nuvo Dance Convention to receive a scholarship for her standout performance in hip hop – a style, among many others, that she continues to excel in. Mia began her dance training at DanzArts Toronto and has been dancing with us for 10 years.
Alexia was selected at the Nuvo Dance Convention to receive a scholarship for her standout performance in hip hop. Alexia is a young talent with an amazing work ethic. Alexia has been dancing at DanzArts Toronto for five years.
Alexia was selected at Nuvo Dance Convention as a “Die Hard Dancer,” a scholarship awarded to her by the very talented Nuvo teacher Martha Nichols. She impressed the Nuvo Faculty members as a dancer with a lot of talent and potential, qualities that she also displays within our studio. Alexia has been dancing at DanzArts Toronto for six years.
Victoriana was selected at Nuvo Dance Convention to receive a scholarship for her standout performances in Jazz and Contemporary. Victoriana is a talented, passionate, and dedicated young dancer. She began her training at DanzArts Toronto and has been dancing with us for eight years.
DanzArts Toronto Company and Recreational Open Houses
Our DanzArts Toronto Company and Recreational Fall Open Houses are a chance for families to watch their child’s class, see what they have been working on and share in their excitement and love of dance. The Open Houses will run November 20-25. Join us at this special event and see our other special programming for students!

DanzArts Toronto Summer Programming Begins July 4
Join DanzArts Toronto for an exciting schedule of new summer programming! Classes include Open Drop-in Classes (July 4, 11, 18 and 25), Intro to Tap (July 13), a RAD Ballet Workshop (July 20), Technique and Tricks Class (July 26-27), the Company Summer Intensive (August 21-24), Total Technique Bootcamp (August 25) and a Mini Intensive (August 25). DanzArts Toronto Year End Recital Caps Off Big Year
DanzArts Toronto presented its Year End Recital on June 4. We are so proud of all our dancers’ performances, personal bests and accolades. It was a fun weekend and it was amazing to see dancers share what they’ve been working on all year with friends and family! Our dancers have come so far this year and we are so excited to see what’s next for all our dancers next season!
Our fall recreational programs begin September 11 and include tap, jazz, hip hop, ballet and musical theatre classes. Check out our full range of recreational dance programs for kids ages three and up here.

DanzArts Toronto Company Achieves Success at Final Competition of the Season as Year End Recital and Open Auditions Approach
DanzArts Toronto Company enjoyed another successful weekend at their Final Competition of the season; MOVE – The Ultimate Dance Experience, May 17-21! We were competing against and inspired by some of Toronto’s top studios. Many congratulations to our 3rd Overall Finalists “Affliction” and “Smile” and to all of our dancers who participated in the final dance off! Special mention to our dancers who received Spotlight Awards: “New York, New York,” “Wishing to Walk,” “Aftermath” and “Bound to You.”
We are so proud of all our dancers’ performances, personal bests and accolades. It was a such a fun weekend and it was amazing to see our dancers inspired by the work of the other top studios at the competition! Our team has come so far this year and we are so excited to see what’s next for all our dancers next season!
DanzArts Toronto Company Closes Out April With Successful Competition, Dancers Prepare for Year-End Recital
The DanzArtrs Toronto Company enjoyed another incredibly successful weekend at the On The Floor Ultimate Competition, April 26-29. In addition to numerous overall and special awards, the Company won the Division 3 Ultimate Battle Championship Cup with “State of our Souls” and 2nd Runner Up in Division 2 with “Watermark.” The highest mark of the competition was awarded to “I Could Have Done More” duet. This was the first competition that the full-time and part-time companies attended together. A huge congratulations goes out to both companies for their beautiful performances, incredible sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the entire weekend!
Impressive Results for DanzArts Toronto in April Competitions
DanzArts Toronto Company started the 2017 season off with a bang at their first competition of the year, the FEVER International Dance Championships, which took place April 6-9. The Company had a successful weekend and were recognized with numerous awards.
A special congratulations goes to She With Whom I Walk and A Beginning’s End for qualifying to compete in the Dance Off on Sunday, April 9 and to I Could Have Done More for being invited to showcase their 1st Overall Duet in the Dance Off. DanzArts Toronto Company dancer Alessia Piccininno received the highest mark for the studio for her solo Consumed, and was invited to be a member of the 5 Star Dance Company.
