Enterprising residents at Villa Colombo Toronto have recently launched a program designed to foster creativity and share the results with the community. Three seniors are gathering a few times a month to create one-of-a-kind bracelets, which will be available to purchase by the public.
The bracelets are custom-made and come in different colours, with different silver-plated charms as well. They are being sold for $10 to $15. The proceeds from the bracelets go to Villa Colombo’s Resident Council.
“This project is important because it gives the residents a purpose, it helps them retain independence and it does wonders for their emotional well-being,” says Justine Dudziak, Manager, Programs, at Villa Colombo Toronto.
“All of the residents, not only the bracelet makers, are taking a lot of pride in what is happening with this project. They are very proud that they are making something original and something that people want to buy.”
The bracelets are available to purchase at any of Villa Colombo Toronto’s Seniors’ Month events, which include two performances by the North Toronto Community Band (June 5 and June 15 at 6:30pm), Bingo (June 6 at 1:30pm) and Porchetta and Beer Night (June 21 at 6:30pm). All events will take place in Sala Caboto.
