Recreational Dance Programs
Fun and exciting classes are offered in a variety of disciplines for dancers ages 3 and up! The recreational program is designed to develop technical skills and foster artistic expression. Students may choose to enroll in one or several classes of any style. Classes promote fitness, fun and teamwork.
Placement is based on skill level and age as of September 30, 2018. It is with careful consideration that each child is placed in the class that best serves the student and allows them to flourish. Dancers are continuously assessed to ensure they are in the level most appropriate for them.
The year-end recital provides our young dancers an opportunity to perform for their family and friends and showcase their acquired talents.

Child and Teen Classes
KINDERDANCE (AGES 3-5)
Our Kinderdance program is perfect for kids ages 3 to 5 who love to move and dance. This 12-week class is an excellent introduction to jazz and ballet fundamentals and will help students develop the basics of rhythm, balance, and coordination in a positive and encouraging environment.
The foundation for all dance disciplines, students are taught fundamentals of movement through classical ballet. Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and Vagonova are the two syllabi taught at DanzArts Toronto. Focusing on technical strength as well as proper body alignment and posture leads to improved poise, grace, discipline, self-confidence, strength, and balance.
JAZZ (AGES 5+)
Jazz is one of the most exciting and energetic forms of dance. This class is high energy and tons of fun! Dancers will learn jumps, turns, combinations and routines. This class aims to develop technique, stamina, rhythm, and a variety of movement styles.
HIP HOP (AGES 5+)
Learn how to move like the dancers on MTV and in your favourite music videos! This high-energy class encourages dancers to really let loose while improving physical fitness, rhythm, and self-confidence.
TAP (AGES 5+)
Learn how to make music with your feet. These upbeat classes work to improve dancers’ musicality, rhythm, and precision.
ACROBATICS (AGES 5+)
This class combines dance technique, acrobatics, and gymnastics. This is a great class for developing strength and exibility.
MUSICAL THEATRE (AGES 7+)
Do you want to be a triple threat? This class is the ultimate in performance through dance and theatre. This class will help dancers express themselves through a combination of dance, drama and vocal talents. If you have ever dreamed of Broadway, this is the class for you!
Dancers will use techniques from both classical ballet and modern dance, while exploring body movement, use of breath, weight, changes in rhythm, speed and direction. Dancers will move to music that is expressive in nature. This class is recommended for dancers with previous training in ballet and jazz.
An hour-long class that focuses on building core strength, increasing endurance and flexibility. Students will learn to use their own bodyweight through a variety of exercises including, but not limited to pilates, yoga and strength exercises. This class targets cardio, core, arms, and legs to condition the dancer’s full body. Highly recommended for all dancers!
Dancers will develop strength and alignment in feet and ankles to improve ballet technique and to dance on pointe.
NEW! INTENSIVE TRAINING PROGRAM (AGES 5 – 19)
The Intensive Training Program is for dancers who would like to push themselves as dancers, without the obligation of competition. We encourage our dancers to train a minimum of 5-6 hours a week in the following classes: Ballet, Jazz, Acro, Contemporary and Hip-Hop. Classes begin September 2018.
NEW! BALLROOM DANCING (AGES 10+)
Learn control, technique and poise, while also improving posture, musicality and expression. A perfect beginner class for students ages 10 and up who want to learn the fundamentals of ballroom dance styles including the Samba, Cha-Cha and Rumba. Classes begin September 2018.
NEW! BREAKDANCING (AGES 8+)
Students ages 8 and up can enjoy the contemporary rhythm and flair of breakdancing as they learn a variety of moves! With step-by-step instruction, dancers will build strength, skill and coordination while learning this athletic dance style through practice and repetition. Most of all, breakdancing lessons are engaging and fun! Classes begin September 2018.
Geared towards adults who are interested in full-body exercise, these classes provide a complete body workout, which will improve muscle tone, posture and musicality. Everyone can benefit from developing their strength, coordination and flexibility. No prior experience is necessary–just come out and have fun!
ADULT BARRE FITNESS
Specifically designed to tone, strengthen and lengthen your muscles, this dance-based conditioning class will have you working your whole body! Improve your coordination, flexibility, and overall strength, as you dance to inspiring music and sculpt your arms, legs, glutes and core! No dance experience required.
This class provides a fun, active and creative outlet for adult students who want to develop coordination, strength and endurance while learning hip-hop choreography and the fundamentals of freestyling. Dancers will learn the footwork first and then slowly add in arm choreography. Stay active by breaking, locking and popping to the latest music and old school hip-hop beats.
NEW! ADULT BALLET
Ballet is a form of dance that opens the doors to many other styles. Practice the grace and elegance of this highly technical form of dance. Develop strength, exibility and endurance for the proper performance of ballet while also learning the importance of creating beautiful lines, form and ballet posture. Classes begin September 2018.
NEW! ADULT BALLROOM
Learn elements of the Brazilian Samba, Waltz, Salsa, the Paso Doble and other Latin dance styles. Led by a professional ballroom instructor, this lively new class also teaches floor craft, foot and leg action, and presentation. Glide across the floor while performing the elegance and sophistication of ballroom dancing. Classes begin September 2018.
NEW! ADULT DANCE BOOTCAMP
This high-energy class fuses full-body circuit training with motivating music for a calorie-burning power hour. With emphasis on strength and alignment, beginners get modified options, while experienced dancers will still be challenged. All students will enjoy the club-style music while reaping the benefits of a total body workout. Classes begin September 2018.
