Art Programs

On-site classes and workshops have been suspended and will be transitioning to virtual classes.

COMMITTED TO KEEPING YOU SAFE

  • The use of masks and face coverings is mandatory in all indoor public spaces, as required under City of Toronto bylaw no. 541-2020.
  • Program registration is online, by email or by phone only. Payment will only be collected through debit or credit card.
  • Hand sanitizer and disinfectant readily available.
  • Increased cleaning and sanitation of studio space, especially high-touch, high-traffic areas.
  • All instructors/staff will conduct a self-assessment before coming to work and if they display any symptoms, they must follow public health guidelines and self-isolate.
  • Instructors/staff are required to wear appropriate PPE (especially if physical distancing is not possible).
  • Appropriate signage to enforce physical distancing.
  • Controlled access and entrance to the studio space.
  • Class sizes will be reduced to conform to current provincial guidelines.
  • Student workstations will be set up at a minimum of 6ft apart. All workstations will have disinfectant wipes for students who wish to sanitize their workspace area.
  • All patrons and visitors are expected to follow appropriate self-screening measures before entering the building.
  • Instructors will maintain a safe distance while teaching, to respect physical distancing protocols.

ADULT ART CLASSES (AGES 18+)

APRIL FLOWERS PAINT NIGHT
Live Virtual Workshop

Explore your artistic abilities in this fun, interactive workshop, well suited for beginners and those with previous experience. Learn to paint bright colourful flowers with guided help from professional artist Sam Paonessa. A reference image will be provided upon registration and students will learn about; chrome, value, colour temperature and maximizing effectiveness, while expressing their own creativity. 

Thursday, April 15 6:30 – 9:00pm 

Price: $45.00 (+ HST)

Materials are not included. Students may choose to paint with oil or acrylic paint. A material list will be provided upon registration.

 

 PAINTING MASTERCLASSES
 Online Workshops with Sam Paonessa 

Join professional artist and multi-award recipient Sam Paonessa, for a new series of masterclasses. Sam will guide you on creating your very own masterpiece, while enhancing your understanding of specific panting techniques. Classes are suited for students with prior painting experience.

Rocks of Georgian Bay – Thursday, May 13 6:30 – 9:00pm SOLD OUT

Learn to paint rocks and convincing reflections. Focus will be on techniques that create depth and edge quality.

LANDSCAPE PAINTING

Classes will explore principles such as tone, colour, form, texture, brush techniques, contrast and composition.

Landscape Painting

WILDLIFE PAINTING

Creative direction and constructive criticism will be provided as students paint their favourite animals or pets from their own photo reference, in this short introduction to wildlife painting. 

This course is suitable for adults of all levels and experience.

REFUND POLICY
Refund five working days before classes start, less $50.00 administrative fee. No refund once classes start or for any missed lessons.

Instructor: Sam Paonessa is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art. He has been a professional artist for over 30 years creating paintings and illustrations, which have been reproduced as greeting cards, calendars, magazines and home décor reproductions. His love of painting is demonstrated in exhibitions and he has gained the attention of fine art collectors, which include private and corporate collections in North America and Europe. Sam is a founding member of Plein Air Canada and a member of the Ontario Society of Artists. Over the years Sam has enjoyed conducting workshops sharing his valuable experience as an artist in the GTA, Haliburton, across Ontario, and Morocco.  Sam has been teaching at the Columbus Centre for the last 7 years.
