Columbus Early Learning Centres
All our Columbus Early Learning Centre locations have reopened. We are following the guidelines from the Ministry of Education, City of Toronto, and Toronto Public Health for our child care programs and facilities.
COMMITTED TO KEEPING YOU SAFE
The Columbus Early Learning Centres are taking every precaution necessary to ensure the safety of the children, families, and our staff. We are following the guidelines from the Ministry of Education, City of Toronto, and Toronto Public Health.
Some of these guidelines include:
- Each child care centre are limited to a maximum of 18 people per room. (15 children and 3 staff members)
- Extra cleaning in the classrooms and common areas prior to opening, throughout the day and upon closing on a daily basis.
- Furniture and toys are disinfected twice a day.
- Soap and paper towel dispensers are available in all classrooms, washrooms, kitchen, and other areas, to encourage safe hand hygiene.
- Children are encouraged to wash their hands more often.
- Hand sanitizers available.
The staff in each of the centres are required to wear the appropriate PPE as recommended by the Ministry of Education. They are required to go through a screening process upon arriving for their shift. We also ask staff to bring in extra shoes to be left at the centres.
For our food distribution, we only have our Kitchen Coordinator in the kitchen handling and serving the food. Our catering company follow strict guidelines as set out by Public Health. Our dishes are washed in an industrial dishwasher at a very high temperature.
All our Policies and Procedures will be updated in accordance with Public Health, Ministry of Education and City of Toronto. All staff will sign rad and sign off on each policy.
Families are asked to use one entrance only. Once they arrive children will be screened before being allowed to enter. Families will pass the child to the teacher who will then take the child to the necessary classrooms. When picking up children at the end of the day, parents are asked to call once they arrive and teachers will bring the child to the parent. Parents will need to sign in/out their child each day.
If your child becomes ill, we will notify the parent immediately and ask that they pick up the child. The child will be isolated from the children with a staff member until the parent arrives.
We will do everything possible to follow the social distancing both inside and outside the classrooms.
For more than 30 years, we have been providing the highest quality of child care to those within our community between the ages of 18 months and 12 years. During this time, we have built strong relationships that are founded on trust, allowing us to provide services to families for generations. Our experienced, professionally trained and licensed staff are committed to the well-being, safety and happiness of your child as they grow and mature in all aspects of life.
Columbus Early Learning Centres adhere to the Ministry of Education’s set curriculum for child care centres. We have also implemented specific enrichment programs where special classes such as dance, yoga, “mad” science and Italian lessons are offered to ensure your child enjoys a broad and unique experience.
In addition to our trained and certified staff, we have licensed special needs resource teachers available to assist in specialized areas for children with special needs or disabilities.
At Columbus Early Learning Centres, we are proud to offer services that are diverse, engaging and reflect the values on which we were founded.
