Columbus Early Learning Centres
Our Centro Abruzzo location will reopen beginning August 10th. Stay tuned for further updates on the reopening of our other locations. We will are following the guidelines from the Ministry of Education, City of Toronto, and Toronto Public Health for our child care programs and facilities.
COMMITTED TO KEEPING YOU SAFE
The Columbus Early Learning Centres are taking every precaution necessary to ensure the safety of the children, families, and our staff. We will follow the guidelines from the Ministry of Education, City of Toronto, and Toronto Public Health for reopening our facilities.
Some of these guidelines will include:
- Each child care centre will be limited to a maximum of 17 people per room. (15 children and 2 staff members)
- Extra cleaning in the classrooms and common areas prior to opening, throughout the day and upon closing on a daily basis.
- Furniture and toys to be disinfected twice a day.
- Soap and paper towel dispensers will be available in all classrooms, washrooms, kitchen, and other areas, to encourage safe hand hygiene.
- Children will be encouraged to wash their hands more often.
- Hand sanitizers available.
The staff in each of the centres will be required to wear the appropriate PPE as recommended by the Ministry of Education. They will be required to go through a screening process upon arriving for their shift. We will also ask staff to bring in extra shoes to be left at the centres.
For our food distribution, we will have only our Kitchen Coordinator in the kitchen handling and serving the food. Our catering company will follow strict guidelines as set out by Public Health. Our dishes are washed in an industrial dishwasher at a very high temperature.
All our Policies and Procedures will be updated in accordance with Public Health, Ministry of Education and City of Toronto. All staff will sign rad and sign off on each policy.
Families will be asked to use one entrance only. Once they arrive children will be screened before being allowed to enter. Families will pass the child to the teacher who will then take the child to the necessary classrooms. When picking up children at the end of the day, parents are asked to call once they arrive and teachers will bring the child to the parent. Parents will need to sign in/out their child each day.
If your child becomes ill, we will notify the parent immediately and ask that they pick up the child. The child will be isolated from the children with a staff member until the parent arrives.
We will do everything possible to follow the social distancing both inside and outside the classrooms.
