Job Summary:

The Columbus Centre is seeking Summer Camp Counsellors. This position will report to the Summer Camp Coordinator.

Shift:

Columbus Centre Summer Camp runs from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm , Monday to Friday. The total hours of work will be dependent upon the enrollment numbers; as such, Counsellors will either work a scheduled shift of a half day or full day per session.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Create lesson plans for a variety of camps: Ultimate Experience (General), Soccer, and Basketball,  under the direction of the Summer Camp Coordinator.
  • Successfully lead a variety of camps: Ultimate Experience (General), Soccer, and Basketball in a safe, fun, and interactive environment
  • Provide support to the Summer Camp Instructors in a variety of indoor specialty camps (Cooking, Italian Language, Minecraft Redstone Development camps) under the direction of the Cultural Arts Coordinator.
  • Supervise and direct volunteers and Leaders-in-Training (LITs) under the direction of the Cultural Arts Coordinator and the Summer Camp Coordinator.
  • Lead and successfully deliver other activities related to camps, such as welcoming of onsite guests, special presentations and offsite trips/excursions.
  • Clean-up of camp supplies after end of daily shift (e.g. pack supplies away, general clean up of space, etc.)
  • Supervise campers for extended care (AM or PM) or lunch supervision, including leading a variety of activities
  • Liaise with customers (parents) and Cultural Arts Office staff
  • Perform any other tasks related to Summer Camp, as required
  • Attend all on-site training and meetings

Qualifications Required

  • Must be good with children. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and coordinate children.
  • Current Police Reference Check (Vulnerable Sector) required upon acceptance of employment
  • Must hold a valid First Aid/CPR certificate – or complete upon acceptance of employment/arranged by CC
  • nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) Training an Asset
  • Previous experience teaching children ages 4 years and up
  • Must be a grade 10 or 11 student
  • Previous experience working in a camp setting, an asset.
  • Previous experience working in a cultural community service environment, an asset.
  • Experience working with people from various cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Previous experience as a personal support worker, an asset
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly organized, excellent time management skills, and attention to detail
  • Creative and resourceful
  • Patient and responsible
  • ability to problem solve and mediate difficult situations.
  • Knowledge of Italian language and/or Italian Canadian community, an asset

A selected number of the Summer Camp Counsellor positions are funded by grant money and therefore are subject to funding approval. Candidates must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for employment for Columbus Centre Summer Camp:

  • Candidate must be 16 – 30 years old at the start of Summer Camp employment
  • Candidate must be a resident of Ontario; further, candidate must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Candidate must be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Cooking Camp Leader to oversee and lead engaging, hands-on cooking activities for children. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing cooking lessons that are both educational and fun. Camp leadership will support and guide the planning as well as sourcing materials and ingredients. The role requires strong leadership, creativity, patience, and a love for working with children in a kitchen environment.

Position Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and complete weekly grocery shopping to support scheduled meals and cooking activities.
  • Design and implement an age-appropriate cooking curriculum that introduces kids to basic culinary skills, kitchen safety, and nutrition.
  • Lead and supervise cooking sessions, room set ups, ensuring an engaging, safe, and inclusive environment for all campers.
  • Demonstrate cooking techniques and assist children in preparing various dishes.
  • Adhere to camp schedules, ensuring activities run smoothly and on time.
  • Enforce kitchen safety guidelines and proper food handling procedures.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and well-stocked kitchen area, while ensuring campers take an active role in maintaining the venue and equipment.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere that promotes creativity and teamwork.
  • Supervise and train any assistant instructors or volunteers.
  • Communicate effectively with camp leadership, providing updates on camper’s progress and camp activities.
  • Handle any behavioral or medical concerns in accordance with camp policies, and alert leadership when unsure of how to proceed.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Experience in teaching or working with children, preferably in a cooking or camp setting.
  • Strong culinary skills with knowledge of basic cooking techniques and recipes.
  • Background in education, nutrition, hospitality, or culinary arts is a plus.
  • Understanding of food allergies and dietary restrictions.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage a group of children in a dynamic, hands-on learning environment.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification (We will provide a course to receive this at no expense to the instructor).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Food Handlers Certification or equivalent food safety training
  • Must pass a background check. (Toronto Police VSS)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a summer camp or educational setting.
  • Previous kitchen management experience.
  • A college diploma in Culinary Arts and/or diploma in Holistic Nutrition is recommended.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Italian Language Camp Counsellor to support and lead campers ages 4–12 in an immersive Italian language and cultural experience. This position reports to the Summer Camp Coordinator . The Italian Language Camp blends language learning with cultural exploration through songs, games, crafts, storytelling, and interactive activities. The successful candidate will foster a supportive, engaging, and inclusive environment where campers build confidence, develop language skills, and connect with Italian culture.

 

Shift:

Columbus Centre Summer Italian Language Camp runs from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM , Monday to Friday. The total hours of work will be dependent upon the enrollment numbers; and preparation time.

 

Position Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver age-appropriate Italian language lessons and cultural activities under the direction of the Summer Camp Coordinator.

  • Lead engaging activities including songs, games, crafts, storytelling, and cultural celebrations.
  • Support campers at varying levels of Italian proficiency (beginner to intermediate).
  • Create a safe, fun, and inclusive learning environment for all participants.
  • Encourage camper participation, confidence-building, and positive peer interactions.
  • Supervise and direct volunteers and Leaders-in-Training (LITs).
  • Prepare and clean up camp materials daily (craft supplies, learning materials, equipment).
  • Communicate professionally with parents and Cultural Arts Office staff.
  • Attend all required training sessions and staff meetings.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Strong Knowledge of the Italian language (conversational fluency required; ) and English Language
  • Strong interest in Italian culture, traditions, and heritage.

Italian Canadian Benevolent Seniors Apartments Corporation is currently looking for a leasing and administrator for the Caboto Terrace and Casa Del Zotto buildings. Reporting to the Property Manager, the incumbent shall be responsible for providing an exceptional tenant experience from first contact through to move-out while meeting financial targets for a senior residential rental building.

 

Key job accountabilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Responding to inquiries via phone calls, emails and texts, qualifying prospects, answering questions and setting up viewing appointments
  • Prepare properties for rent to show prospective tenants
  • Give tours of open listings and determine the needs of potential tenants, screening, and qualifying potential tenants.
  • Portray the property and amenities in a positive fashion
  • Manage and process tenant applications, and maintain detailed documentation of all transactions.
  • Verify City of Toronto Social Housing applications and waitlists as applicable.
  • Update property availability lists, track application statuses and document all communications between tenants and property management.
  • Responding to email inquiries about property listings
  • Filing property inspection reports
  • Coordinating with maintenance teams for unit preparations
  • Documenting property conditions through photos and reports
  • Communicating and coordinating with Property Manager and Assistants to ensure tenant application and move in processes are smooth.
  • Assisting in ensuring all paperwork and tenant management software is completed according to company policy, and in accordance with the Residential Tenancy Act in a timely and accurate manner

Administrative

  • Coordinate the implementation of repairs, maintenance and renovations carried out on buildings and monitor progress and cost of work.
  • Compile and maintain records on operating expenses and income, prepare reports and review rents to ensure they are at market value
  • Ensure that trouble calls received from clients or tenants are acted upon
  • Prepare rent geared to income calculations and sent notices.
  • General administrative duties including monitoring of service invoices, recepts, rent cheques

Desired Qualifications

 

  • 3-5 years of Residential property management experience.
  • Knowledge of Residential Tenancy Act and City of Toronto Social Housing
  • Strong computer skills: confident in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook, Newviews and Yardi
  • Must demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and be extremely detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and balance and prioritize multiple projects, deliver programs and tactics on a timely basis in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills.
  • Exercising tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality at all times
    Must be flexible, adaptive to change and able to handle shifting priorities with maturity and foresight to cope with input and changes, with short notice at times.
  • Knowledge of Italian language and/or Italian Canadian community, considered an asset
  • Proven diplomacy skills and commitment to customer service.

The ECE will have excellent communication skills when discussing students’ problems and progress with parents, to ensure constant communication about the children’s development.

Fitness Centre Attendant (PART TIME)

The Columbus Centre Athletic Club, under Villa Charities Inc., offers General Fitness Memberships and
Executive Membership services at affordable prices. The fitness facility provides an extensive array of
personal training options and group fitness classes including spinning, body sculpt, boot camp, Strength
Training, ZUMBA® and Mobility Training, The Athletic Club also provides various yoga classes, squash
lessons, boxing and aquatic classes. With an indoor swimming pool, Columbus Centre caters to preschool aged children just learning how to swim to seniors who enjoy aqua fitness. For more information please visit our website at villacharities.com.

The Columbus Centre Athletic Club is currently looking for a Gym Floor Attendant who is responsible for
supporting a safe, clean, and welcoming fitness environment. This role includes monitoring the gym floor, assisting members, maintaining equipment and facility standards, completing inspections and reports, and responding to emergencies. The position requires strong customer service skills, attention to safety, and the ability to perform physical tasks essential to facility operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • To actively seek out and always ensure facility cleanliness and equipment organization; return displaced equipment back to its proper spot; know who to contact should janitorial issues arise; forward facility infrastructure concerns to the Director of Athletics.
  • Will be responsible for monitoring the Men’s Health Club to ensure all amenities are maintained in a clean, safe, and fully operational condition; reporting any issues to the Director of Athletics; and following up to ensure the timely completion of all assigned duties.
  • Conduct regular inspections of all fitness equipment to ensure it is safe and in good working order.
  • Perform minor equipment maintenance (e.g., lubrication or basic adjustments) where trained to do so and document all actions in equipment maintenance logs.
  • Complete scheduled facility scans to confirm compliance with safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations and report maintenance concerns to the Director of Athletics or designated supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the proper and safe use of all fitness equipment, including cardiovascular and strength‑training equipment.
  • Always maintain awareness of gym activity while on duty and address safety concerns promptly. Monitor patrons and enforce facility rules to promote a safe and respectful environment, while offering guidance on gym etiquette, and safety protocols.
  • Respond to incidents or emergency situations in accordance with established emergency response procedures. Immediately report accidents, injuries, or emergencies to the supervisor on duty and complete required documentation.
  • Will be required to effectively communicate and work in coordination with the full-time Maintenance Department when needed.
  • Greet members and guests in a professional, courteous, and inclusive manner.
  • Foster positive relationships with members and guests, contributing to a respectful and welcoming environment for individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, consistent with the scope of the position.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with fitness equipment and basic exercise techniques is required.
  • Previous customer service or fitness facility experience is an asset.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to follow policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
  • This role requires the ability to remain attentive for extended periods while monitoring the fitness floor.
  • The position involves physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting or carrying equipment or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, as required for operational purposes.
  • Police Reference Check (Vulnerable Sector)
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification is required or will be provided upon hire.

Hours

  • 20-25 Hours per week

Wages

  • $20 per hour
