VCI fulfills their mandate through a broad range of activities, services and facilities, both directly and in conjunction with its affiliates and independent organizations. Affiliates include Columbus Centre and Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery; Villa Colombo Homes for the Aged Inc. in Toronto; Villa Colombo Seniors Centre (Vaughan) Inc. Italian Canadian Benevolent Seniors Apartments Corporation is currently looking for a leasing and administrator for the Caboto Terrace and Casa Del Zotto buildings. Reporting to the Property Manager, the incumbent shall be responsible for providing an exceptional tenant experience from first contact through to move-out while meeting financial targets for a senior residential rental building.

 

Key job accountabilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Responding to inquiries via phone calls, emails and texts, qualifying prospects, answering questions and setting up viewing appointments
  • Prepare properties for rent to show prospective tenants
  • Give tours of open listings and determine the needs of potential tenants, screening, and qualifying potential tenants.
  • Portray the property and amenities in a positive fashion
  • Manage and process tenant applications, and maintain detailed documentation of all transactions.
  • Verify City of Toronto Social Housing applications and waitlists as applicable.
  • Update property availability lists, track application statuses and document all communications between tenants and property management.
  • Responding to email inquiries about property listings
  • Filing property inspection reports
  • Coordinating with maintenance teams for unit preparations
  • Documenting property conditions through photos and reports
  • Communicating and coordinating with Property Manager and Assistants to ensure tenant application and move in processes are smooth.
  • Assisting in ensuring all paperwork and tenant management software is completed according to company policy, and in accordance with the Residential Tenancy Act in a timely and accurate manner

Administrative

  • Coordinate the implementation of repairs, maintenance and renovations carried out on buildings and monitor progress and cost of work.
  • Compile and maintain records on operating expenses and income, prepare reports and review rents to ensure they are at market value
  • Ensure that trouble calls received from clients or tenants are acted upon
  • Prepare rent geared to income calculations and sent notices.
  • General administrative duties including monitoring of service invoices, recepts, rent cheques

Desired Qualifications

 

  • 3-5 years of Residential property management experience.
  • Knowledge of Residential Tenancy Act and City of Toronto Social Housing
  • Strong computer skills: confident in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook, Newviews and Yardi
  • Must demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and be extremely detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and balance and prioritize multiple projects, deliver programs and tactics on a timely basis in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills.
  • Exercising tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality at all times
    Must be flexible, adaptive to change and able to handle shifting priorities with maturity and foresight to cope with input and changes, with short notice at times.
  • Knowledge of Italian language and/or Italian Canadian community, considered an asset
  • Proven diplomacy skills and commitment to customer service.

 

COMPENSATION AND OTHER BENEFITS:

$45-50K/Year

Since its opening in 1980, the Columbus Centre, part of Villa Charities, has served as a vibrant community centre where people can enjoy the richness of Italian culture within a Canadian setting. Today, the Columbus Centre remains a major hub for the GTA’s Italian-Canadian community and a popular meeting place to participate in a wide range of athletic, aquatic and wellness programs at our expansive Athletic Club.

The Columbus Center is currently looking for Group Instructors in a contractual role for YOGA/ZUMBA/TAI-CHI

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Instructor shall instruct fitness class during the scheduled days and times in accordance with fitness schedule and contract.
  • The instructor shall keep an accurate account of participants on the sign in sheet for payroll, as well as the attendance sheet in the studio.
  • Instructor will ensure that their classes are covered by another instructor if they are unable to teach.
  • Inform participants of the rules and regulations, as well as safety concerns relate to the activity.
  • Develop fitness routines which follow proper technique and are appropriate for the group of participants at the time of each class.
  • Beginning and ending fitness class on time; with adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching, and cool-down.
  • Enforce all facility and program policies and ensure safety standards are met.
  • In the case of an accident or injury, follow emergency procedure as outlined in orientation and submitting the appropriate injury report form to Director of Athletics.
  • All qualifications, certificates and insurance must be maintained and submitted.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The Instructor is under contract with Columbus Centre Athletic Club and shall conduct
    themselves in a professional manner and in accordance with the Columbus Centre
    Athletic Clubs/Villa Charities Code of Conduct.
  • The Instructor will make themselves available for meetings as required by management
    at a reasonable time and location mutually agreeable to both parties.
  • A Vulnerable Sector Screening from the Toronto Police or equivalent
  • Current First Aid/CPR and AED certification
  • Must accredit group fitness (must present certification):
    • BCRPA
    • Canadian Fitness Professionals (Can-Fit-Pro)
    • Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP)
    • American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
    • National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)

Personal Trainer (Contract)

The Columbus Center is currently looking for Part time Personal Trainer in a contractual role.

As a Personal Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering predesigned workouts to clients and motivate them on a one-to-one basis. This position requires a strong ability in time management. You must also have a well-rounded theory of fitness, including endurance, strength, and power, using the tools given to optimize the client’s experience and results. You will be working as an independent contractor for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver predesigned workout for individual clients and provide appropriate individual goals.
  • Motivate and inspire client throughout the workout.
  • Ensure safety of participants regarding exercise technique and personal limitations.
  • Provide options and challenges for specific exercises to accommodate various skill levels.
  • Work independently.
  • Arriving 5-10 minutes before the scheduled appointment and to prepare and connect with client.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Current Personal Trainer Certification from select accredited certifying bodies, including, but not limited to ACSM, ACE, NASM, NSCA, ISSA, CAN-FIT-PRO or AFAA.
  • Current CPR/AED Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in an exercise related field is an asset
  • Intermediate knowledge of physiology, exercise technique, and body mechanics
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized
  • Positive, motivating and effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Desire and capacity to train all fitness levels
  • At least 3+ years of experience in personal training in the fitness industry
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Must be able to safely lift and move up to 40 lbs.
  • Must have their own insurance

Villa Charities currently has two full daycare programs in its facilities and three afterschool programs in TCDSB School facilities.

Villa Charities Inc. is currently recruiting for energetic, motivated Early Childhood Educator (ECE) and/or Early Childcare Assistant (ECA) to teach a variety of educational subjects and developmental skills to children, from toddlers to preschool. The ECE will have excellent communication skills when discussing students’ problems and progress with parents, to ensure constant communication about the children’s development.

Job Summary

The incumbent in this position is required to provide quality supervision and guidance of daily activities for toddlers and school-age children.

Regular: This position is full-time (7.5 Hours a day), and you are expected to work the entire shift in a pre-assigned classroom.

Floater: This position is full-time (7.5 Hours a day), and you are expected to work between various classrooms as required to cover the vacation of other staff. This position may have to work one of the locations per the schedule provided.

Split shift: In this position, you will be required to work a split shift (Pre-School and after-school hours) during the days the children are in school (5.5 hours per day) On days children are not in school (noninstitutional days), you will be required to work an entire day shift. This position is for the after-school programs we run at various school locations. The age groups of the children are Kindergarten and School Age.

Major Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents and children and the ability to work with a team
  • Plan and develop childcare programs in accordance with provincial standards

  • Assist in housekeeping duties i.e., sanitizing tables, toys, furniture


Qualifications Required

  • Early Childhood Education Assistant Diploma an asset
  • Knowledge of subsidy and Quality Assessment with the City of Toronto
  • Knowledge of licensing regulations
  • Self manages on-going professional development
  • Experience working with toddler/preschool children
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain an effective work relationship with families, colleagues and service providers
  • Effective interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
