For more than 50 years across the GTA, Villa Charities has provided cultural and educational programs and supported culturally sensitive long-term care and independent living apartments for seniors. VCI fulfills their mandate through a broad range of activities, services, and facilities, both directly and in conjunction with its affiliates and independent organizations. JOB SUMMARY
Since its opening in 1980, the Columbus Centre, part of Villa Charities, has served as a vibrant community centre where people can enjoy the richness of Italian culture within a Canadian setting. Today, the Columbus Centre remains a major hub for the GTA’s Italian-Canadian community, and a popular meeting place frequented by more than 150,000 visitors every year.
The Columbus Center is currently looking for Tai Chi Instructors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Instructor shall instruct Tai Chi during the scheduled days and times in accordance with schedule and contract.
- The instructor shall keep an accurate account of Tai Chi Programs participants on the sign in sheet for payroll, as well as the attendance sheet in the studio.
- Inform participants of the rules and regulations, as well as safety concerns related to the activity.
- Develop Karate / Tai Chi routines which follow proper technique and are appropriate for the group of participants at the time of each class.
- Beginning and ending classes on time; with adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching, and cool-down.
- Enforce all facility and program policies and ensure safety standards are met.
- In the case of an accident or injury, follow emergency procedure as outlined in orientation and submitting the appropriate injury report form to Director of Athletics.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Tai Chi qualification to relevant program. All qualifications, certificates and insurance must be maintained and submitted.
- Experience in working with Children and Elderly
- Current First Aid/CPR and AED certification
- The instructor is under contract with Columbus Centre Athletic Club and shall conduct themselves in a professional manner and in accordance with the Columbus Centre Athletic Clubs/Villa Charities Code of Conduct.
- The instructor will make themselves available for meetings as required my management at a reasonable time and location mutually agreeable to both parties.
- A criminal back group check from the Toronto Police.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
- On call
